Bio
The Brass Almanac played their first show at the Third Street Tavern in Milwaukee in September 1979, with Otis Pryor's organ, Rae Whitaker's voice and a borrowed van. Their first record, Third Street, came out in 1981; Gold Coast in 1987 took them across the country.
After the quiet years they came back in 2012 and have toured every year since. Gold Coast was reissued in 2024 from the original tapes. Their fans keep the shirts, and the band keeps an archive of every one.
Listen
These players are stand-ins: a sample band has no music of its own.

“Forty-seven years in and the organ still sounds like Sunday morning.”
Lakefront Review “Gold Coast is the rare reissue that sounds like the night it was made.”
