Write a long read
Tell a longer story with photos, and it opens from a card in your followers' feeds.
A long read is room for a story: a tour, your closet, how you found a shirt. It's written like a blog post and reads like a page of its own.
How to do it
- Open Your writing and tap Write a long read. On your own profile, Write beside Latest or Updates takes you there too.
- Writing for a band you run? Tap Write on the band's page, or on Your writing tap or as and the band's name.
- Tap Add a cover photo. The cover is what readers see in the feed.
- Add a title, a subtitle if you want one, and tell the story. Start a line with ## for a heading, > for a quote or - for a list.
- Use the toolbar at the foot of the screen. Photo adds photos, and several at once make a gallery. Embed adds a link to something on MerchVice, like an item, a band or a show, or a player from YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp, SoundCloud or Apple Music.
- Your words save as you go. Tap Preview to read it as others will, then tap Publish.
Good to know
- Changed something after it's out? Tap Edit on it, make the change and tap Update. Readers see the change only then.
- Tags and search, in the More menu, holds its tags and what search engines show. Who it's written as is set there too, until it first goes out.
- It reaches your followers' feeds as a card, and your long reads are listed at your closet's address followed by /writing. A band's reaches the band's followers.
- Take it down, in the More menu, takes it off the feed and its page and keeps its likes and comments for when you publish it again. Delete removes it for good.
- Once it's out, any manager of the band can update a band's long read or take it down.
