MerchVice vs Bandcamp

Buy it on Bandcamp, so the band gets paid. Then post it here, where the shirt gets a page beside everyone else's copy and your closet keeps the story.

Checked October 2026. Every fact about Bandcamp here comes from its own help, fees and terms pages, each with its source and the day we read it.

The short answer

  1. Bandcamp is the best place to buy new merch straight from a band: the band sets the price and keeps most of it.

  2. MerchVice picks up after the parcel arrives: your shirt gets a page beside every other fan's copy, your closet records what you own, you can trade with other fans, and the band's page links back to its store.

  3. Use both. Keep buying there; post what arrives here and tag the band.

Where Bandcamp is better

  • Music and merch sold together, with most of the money going to the artist or label. Source

  • Pay what you want: fans pay more than the minimum a good share of the time. Source

  • Bandcamp Fridays waive Bandcamp's share for a day, so more goes to the artist. Source

  • A music feed of the artists and fans you follow, and a high-quality download of everything you bought. Source

Use both

Nobody is asking you to leave Bandcamp. Bring your items here as well, so they have a home that is about the music.

Keep buying there: that's where the band gets paid. When a shirt or a record arrives, post it here from your own photo and tag the band. Its page joins every other fan's copy of the same design. Source

Bring your items in from a file

Keep your closet here

MerchVice is where people show off the band merch they own and trade it with other fans. Your closet, your bands, your people.

Questions

Is MerchVice trying to replace Bandcamp?

No. Bandcamp is where you buy from the band. MerchVice is where the merch lives afterwards: your closet, the design's page with every fan's copy, and trades between fans.

Can a band link its Bandcamp store from MerchVice?

Yes. A band claims its page for free and puts its official merch and store links on top, so fans buy new from the band.

Can I bring my Bandcamp collection over?

Post the physical items you own from your own photos and tag the band. Bandcamp's collection page has no export we can read, and we never copy another site's pages.

Does MerchVice take a cut when I trade?

No. Trading is free, and no money passes through MerchVice in a trade.
