How heavy is heavy enough

Recording The Long Dark Field in a converted grain store, one slow take at a time.

We recorded The Long Dark Field in a grain store an hour outside Birmingham. The walls are a foot thick and the floor slopes, so the drums lived in the low corner and everything else leaned toward them.

One take or nothing

Jonah wanted every song played straight through, mistakes and all. We did eleven takes of the title track. We kept the seventh, because it was the one where the amp started to give out.

If it doesn't shake the coffee cup on the desk, it isn't done.

The record is slow, long and loud, and we are proud of every minute of it. The first pressing comes with a poster Maren printed on the same paper as our first flyers.
